A compound is a very effective way ? and sometimes the only way ? to remove severe scratches and heavy oxidation from automotive paint. XMT Heavy Duty Swirl Remover #4 is a true compound. It eliminates oxidation, severe swirls and scratches with a blend of abrasives, cleaners, and lubricating oils. The cleaners help remove dead, oxidized paint while the abrasives level scratches and severe swirls. The oils help lubricate the abrasive particles to minimize hazing, though some hazing is expected and easily removed. XMT Heavy Duty Swirl Remover #4 is effective on all kinds of paint, including clear coats. Do not use this product on new or like new paint. We must stress, this is an aggressive compound for severely damaged paint. Follow XMT Heavy Duty Swirl Remover #4 with progressively less aggressive polishes until surface gloss is restored. After compounding, it is normal and expected to have what is called compound haze.
