Charity Making a Difference in Metro Dtroit, "Help Change Lives And Build Communities"

Times are hard, the economy is on the fritz, there is blight everywhere, homes are in foreclosure and school drop out rates are out of control.

Thompson Land Development Non Profit Housing Corp (TLDNPHC) is a 501c3 organization that’s addressing these issues. In November they provided Thanksgiving dinner to an entire Nursing Home.  In December they passed out bags of fruit to a west side neighborhood. Because they are a grass roots organization 80 percent of the funds they receive goes back to the neighborhood.

Every 4th Saturday they partner with Pastor Benny and Pastor Dough at Prayer House Church and prepare and provide food and clothes to the homeless in the Cass Corridor which is one of the most blighted areas in the City of Detroit.  In fact in June and July 2009 they provided over 400 meals to the homeless.

So often young people skip college because they lack the monetary funds to go stated Ms. Moore, TLDNPHC Board Chair person.   TLDNPHC contacted Urban Solutions and asked Mrs. Allen to help them provide a scholarship to a college bound student. Hence, they felt that helping a student with a scholarship is in a sense addressing the drop out rate.

Also in June they thanked a 14 year old who was humanitarian enough to cut the grass at St Alphonsus School with a check for $100.00.

On August 8 2009 they are hosting their First Annual Black Tie Fund Raising Gala.  It will be held at the Burton Manor 27777 Schoolcraft Livonia Michigan from 6:00PM until 11:00PM. Their theme is Changing Lives, Building Communities.  They believe that the things most people take for granite such as a place to stay, food, money for a good deed and a scholarship helps build love, trust and a community, and this changes lives.

The speakers will be State Representative Fred Durhal and Commissioner Keith Williams. Tickets are $100.00, this includes a fashion show, dinner and dancing.  Come join them and help them help others.

For tickets call C. Parker 313 582 8862 Or S. Moore 313 673 5073, or visit their web site at www.tldnphc.org or e-mail TLDNPHC@comcast.net.
