Attention Virginia Home Buyers:
Agency Law Changed On July 1st!

Having a Buyer's Agent is nothing new, but as of July 1st, all agency relationships in Virginia must be in writing. This means that buyers will have to review and sign a Buyer's Agency agreement with an agent before they can show them a property or discuss details beyond what is in the public MLS information.

At Investors Realty, we've always required a buyer agency agreement before we work with a prospective buyer as a matter of professionalism and a sign of our commitment to act in the best interests of our clients.

After July 1st - it is the law!

  • Better inform consumers about their right to be represented
  • Makes full written disclosure of brokerage relationships the law
  • Provide the buyer with a list of services provided
  • Provide the buyer with a list of fees and when they are due
  • Define and disclose dual agency to all parties beforehand
  • Levels the playing field for buyers and sellers
