The type of paper used in this painting is made of crust extracted from the "Janote Colorado" tree only found in thecentral sate of Puebla;
however, it is only used by the Nahua people in the Alto Balsas region in the southern state of Guerrero where they paint these colorful bookmarks and other crafts; themes include religious activities, fiestas, birds, wild cats, and every day activities among other themes.
